Laundry is not the most exciting task you will have to do, and its even more of a pain when the clothes just do not turn out right! Here are a few common problems and the solutions to assist you with your laundry woes -

Problem #1: Your clothes come out gray or yellow.

You might want to increase the amount of detergent in the next load, use a detergent booster, or raise the temperature of the water. However, the gray may be from dye that has bled from darks to lights, suggesting you need to sort better. Bluing in the wash sometimes corrects graying in white-colored materials.

Problem #2: Detergent residue on clothes.

Your powdered detergent isn't dissolving properly. Ensure the loads aren't too full. Use liquid detergent with cold-water cycles. Try letting the washer fill with water, adding the detergent, then adding the clothes. When the problem is triggered by calcium within the water, make use of a water-softening product in your next load. To eliminate hard-water residue from clothes, soak them in a mixture of 1 cup white vinegar per 1 gallon warm water. Rinse and rewash.

Problem #3: You have a problem with pilling.

This is very common in man-made materials. Try turning synthetic clothing inside out before washing. (Pilling is caused by abrasion of fibres, and this helps to cut down on abrasion during the washing and drying cycle.) Maybe even wash your synthetics in a gentler shorter cycle. Using a liquid detergent might help. To eliminate pills, snip them off with battery energy-powered pill remover, or pull the fabric tight over a curved surface and shave the pills off with a safety razor.

Problem #4: There is lots of Lint in your Clothes

Better sorting of clothes will be required. Separate lint producers, for instance fleece sweaters, chenille items, new terry cloth towels, and flannel pajamas, from lint attractors, for instance corduroys, synthetic blends, and dark fabric. To eliminate the lint, use a lint roller or pat with sticky tape. Check to make sure pockets are empty of tissue together with other paper prior to putting them in the washer. Ensure the dryer and washer lint filters are clean.

Nobody enjoys chores and although laundry is not one of the most difficult, it is a pain when your clothes do not come out properly, hopefully with these problems and solutions, you can avoid some of the pressing issues when it comes to laundry.
