Open to all Year 10 students in the Cayman Islands, the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman has announced the return of the Adventures in Citizenship essay contest.
Finalists from each school will be invited to participate in a government day that includes a tour of the Legislative Assembly Building in George Town and lunch with Governor Duncan Taylor.
Pauline Beckford, principal of Clifton Hunter High School, said she is happy to be involved in the venture. She said, "I'm delighted for my students to be involved and I recognize the importance of young Caymanians working with community partners like the Rotary Club to improve their literacy."
The essay contest is being sponsored by CIBC First Caribbean International Bank. Marcia Harrison, associate director of retail banking and operations for CIBC First Caribbean International Bank, said that these types of literary programmes are critical to supporting the community and building leadership through youth.
